THE RESSURECTION IS THE BASELINE BETWEEN THE TWO COVENANTS.
Those who are looking forward to the resurrection, are in the old Covenant, while those who’ve received the resurrection by faith are in the New Covenant. Then there are those who flounder.
This is the reason Christ went to the cross and paid for the sin of all of humanity. He is our cross over from death to life. He is the event all the old covenant anticipated.
We know this because in Paul’s final testimony to King Agrippa of the gentiles he said that ” 7 To this promise our twelve tribes, earnestly serving God night and day, hope to attain to the life from the dead”. Showing us that it was available for those who pressed in, in their day. Acts 26
However, the testimony of Jesus Christ was, I am the resurrection and the life, those who believe in Me, though they die they shall live “, showing for us the phase passed the resurrection is faith in Him.
It is because Christ went to the cross and took our curse from us and took our death for us to walk in a new sinless life. That we have come to know and believe that what is required from us is done by God.
Isn’t that what we vowed at our baptism? To be buried in his likeness and raised in newness of life? Romans 6.4
That is why we say the demarcation line between the old Covenant and the New Covenant is the resurrection emphatically.
If we can understand this basic concept that the resurrection is our foundation to build upon, and appropriate it to the various Epistles, we can better understand that all scripture is progressive, meaning build-able. Yes all things are true, but not all the time to everybody. If it was then Jesus would not have said “if you can believe it” and “if you can receive it”. And “let it be according to your faith”. These all lead to more rooms and upper levels.
While one is learning justification, redemption, reckoning and other legal jargon freeing you from sin to receive a new life like taught in the book of Romans. Others are attaining the ascension, the Kingdom, the new body and anything but a second coming. The Second coming is a phrase not found once in scripture. That is a distraction. But many are all reaching out to lay hold of why Christ laid hold of them/you, for your spiritual development. Philippians 3.12
The second coming seekers are sidelined in limbo waiting for the next coming for their empowerment, which comes “with all lying signs and wonders to deceive” those who reject the complete saving at the cross, payment rendered in full and signed in blood and brought to light by Gods Will and Testament called the New Covenant.
For this reason the resurrection is the baseline between the two covenants. Those who are looking forward to the resurrection, are in the old Covenant at the south end of the cross looking forward. While those who are in the resurrection are in the new, just barely. Now you are in the vortex between the resurrection and the Kingdom for which you are called to the ascension. Your climb up.
The Kingdom of God is at hand.
