In Scripture Our Lord started some Parables with “the Kingdom of Heaven is like…”. He used visual things to explain the invisible. This was the purpose of every Parable “He only spoke to the people in parables and without a parable spake He not to them”.
And; Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
And; seeing they see not, hearing they hear not. For it is with the heart you need to see and hear to understand the things of God”.
All the Law and the prophets were parables to wake people up to the ubiquitous reality of the living God and His always ready Kingdom, being “the Kingdom prepared from the foundations of the world”.
The Lord spoke to Moses saying “see that you make all things according to the pattern I showed you on the mountain”. The things the Israelites made in the wilderness were also parables to learn of the invisible with visible examples. They set up the tabernacle and took it down over and over to learn their invisible counterpart eternal in the Heavens, of Gods design and fabrication without the help of man.
Much like children play with toy figures to pretend they are something they could grow into. Like a police or a doctor. This is why the Israelites were called children over 1000 times in the old testament. They were kids playing with toys called the tabernacle, the priests and feasts all the way up to Solomon’s Jerusalem. These were toys for their understanding.
The Israelites of the old covenant anticipated the New for an exchange to take place. That was their schooling for spiritual adulthood. To graduate from hands on physical things, to the invisible, eternal, pre-existing realities of God gifted to the elect through the gospel, for their aquisition through faith.
Much like in a dark room when someone turns on a light and then holds their hands in front of the light to project images of bunnies and birds. But the shadow on the wall that looks like a bunny in front of the light of a projector, is not a bunny, and it’s not the fingers. It’s just a shadow. Same as the physical objects, persons, places and things of the Old Testament and Covenant. They were only school toys. From (Galatians 4)
The writer of Hebrews describes the law and the prophets as “Shadows of heavenly but having not the essence” meaning not the right material. They were earthen images to explain things that are in the light that existed before God said “let there be light. The sun is a toy in that way too.
This is why scripture says “He is the God that commanded light to shine out of Darkness has shown in our hearts”. The heart is the place of spiritual darkness to be awakened by the light of God called “revelation”. The Kingdom of God is at hand and unvailed by revelation only.
Paul said “11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” This is why John calls Him “the light that shines into the heart of everyman”. The place the sun cannot shine into. These lights distinguish the two ages and two creations. Physical and invisible.
We the elect share the same testimony. “The Revelation of Jesus Christ has shown in our hearts to bring to light the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” And we with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the Glory of the Lord are being transfigured into the same full image from the Glory to the Glory as by the spirit. 2 Corinthians 3.17 and 4.6
The Kingdom of Heaven is like… in function, but eternally superior in design and construct as being made up of Spirit and truth.
The conclusion of all the law, the prophets and the old Jerusalem of the old covenant and the old testament, as well as all the Kingdom parables was to connect us to tge reality of God and His Kingdom at hand, even at your fingertips.
