WE SPEAK WHAT WE KNOW

“Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness”.
At first glance we think “what’s the big deal?” The big deal is this, if somebody asked you about what you were going to eat and you said, “we are eating dinner then we will have desert after we sit down at ourtable. People would assume you were with somebody or that you were carrying passengers. (invisible friends)
The thing is Christ said that, while He was talking to Nicodemus. There is no mention of other people being there and it was actually at night that this conversation took place. Nicodemus did not want others to know he was even talking to Christ. If it was me in that situation I would exit stage left. We speak, We know , We see. Huh? C-ya! No wonder some people said he had a demon.
Yes this behavior is peculiar but there is more. Ya! So check this out. Jesus also frequently referred to himself as the third person. Here is an example from John 5.19:
Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you,the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
He repeatedly calls himself “Son of man“, “Son of God” and He says things like “the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven”, “it’s time for the Son of man to be glorified”. He is talking of himself as the 3rd person.
He speaks of himself as if he is speaking of someone who is not there, but he is speaking of himself.
The truth of the matter is this. If you recall from the Genesis creation account, God said “Let us make man in our image and our likeness”. From this we can understand more of the plurality of God, and the Holy Spirit in Christ saying “We speak what We know and testify what We have seen.
With this in mind it makes sense that Christ spoke as 3rd person. A fact is this. Had Christ not been a plurality, He would not have been God. As scripture says ” for in Him dwells the fullness of the God head body”. and “He is the head of all powers and principalities” and “all things have been given to the Son”
I praise the father for this glorious gift for us.
Blessings
