18 Therefore, as through [h]one man’s offense (Adam) judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift is offered to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience (Adam) many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience (Jesus Christ) many are made righteous.20 Moreover the law entered for the offense to abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin generates power for death (to all who are in their Adamic thinking), even so grace generates power for righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
To be righteous is to be sin free in the eyes and calculation of God. Paul uses accounting terms and says ““Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the person to whom the Lord shall not impute sin”. Meaning to (keep a reconning in a ledger book)
Sin is a nature and a thing you do because that’s who you are. But for those who’ve accepted Christ, it doesn’t mean you don’t do things wrong. We have the Holy Spirit inside us to nudge us to help us make amends where we can, and to teach us to forgive ourselves when we can’t. Why? Because God no longer keeps track of them.
We know that the one time act at the cross paid for our all our shortcomings for all time so that we don’t cripple ourselves from a relationship with God by having a guilty conscience. He’s Got it covered. (1 John 2.1)
Oh the blessedness to know this. The guilt ridden mind stuck on the past, even maybe yesterday, is laid on that man so it cannot be charged against us who follow and listen to the Still Small voice of God in us.
This is how 1 John could say,
3 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of [a]God! Therefore the world (those in their Adamic nature and guilt ridden mind) does not know [b]us, because it does not know Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Those who practice righteousness are righteous (sinless), just as He is righteous. 8 Those who sin are of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was made known to us, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for Gods seed remains in them; and they cannot sin, because they have been born of God.
This is why scripture says “for even the angels of God behold the face of the Father in these little ones”. Meaning even those who are brand new in the faith.
So grow in learning of the distinction between what is passed on to us through our social upbringing and who you are in the eyes of God and taught to us through scripture and the Holy Spirit.
James says “we are Begotten, or born again, by the word of truth to be a kind of first fruit of His creation”. Being one who is created new by Word and Spirit, the only two elements that came out of the proverbial mouth of God, that precedes and supercedes all of creation, that takes on no form visible for us to grab a hold of, but is every where all the time for our association, so that we too can understand the words of Christ were true then and in our day, that,
The Kingdom of God is at hand! Even now, we are a protected species.
This is why Paul said ” 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are offspring of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you did receive the Holy Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba,[e] Father.” 16 The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
And, “ For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
To which we say “AMEN” meaning, and so it is and we agree.
